Material by or relating to Donald Friend comprises: 11 letters from Friend to his mother, mostly undated but from the period when he went from London to Nigeria, 1938-1940; a 1981-1982 sketchbook presented to Lou Klepac for his birthday; seven photographs of various subjects, including of Friend and of Trojan horse sculpture; pen drawing "Season's greetings to the World of Art", depicting members of the Boyd family; pen drawing "Doesn't the Grim Reaper look well", made while in hospital in 1981; proofs of images for "Songs of the Vagabond Scholars", including two rejected images; a small number of other papers such as postcards, press cuttings and a photograph. The material by or relating to Russell Drysdale comprises: two diaries covering a car trip through Australia in 1956; posters, 1980, for a Drysdale exhibition and for the Perth Festival; three ink cartoons relating to a trip to Perth; cartoon titled "Ert Noovoo Springs", made at George Bell Art School; copy of "Coast to Coast" 1953-54, signed by Drysdale, and with double page pen drawing and inscription by Donald Friend, 1954; copy of Friend's, A collection of Hillendiana (1956), with ink drawing by Paul Haeflinger and signed by Friend, Margaret Olley, Jean Bellette and Haeflinger.
